The step will bend / break if a large amount of weight is subjected. This may have been the reason yours is not attached. I have had to repair mine in the past. My experience is you will want this step as it really is more of a safety item for entry and exit. I think for the cost you really will be glad you installed it like it originally was.

Hello again.
I bought a step from Dodson and I think it's the wrong part. The tag says it's for a C177 but it has the correct part number? I place the step in the hole in the side (below door). The bend portion of the tube looks to be in the right place BUT the welded sheet metal piece is far to low, about an 1-1 1/2"? Thanks as usual. BILLS |
