Pressurized Baggage Pods
 

Hi folks.

In a conversation this morning with a gentleman who is perhaps interested in buying my P337, the subject of baggage pods came up, and it made me want to ask a question of this group:

Over the years, I have seen messages from a number of folks, and when I had a pod for sale I talked to folks, who were looking for a baggage pod for a P337. I keep hearing rumors that pods are or were manufactured for P337s, either by Cessna or somebody else. But I have never seen one, nor actually talked to someone that had one. I have seen *lots* of pods for normally aspirated Skymasters, but never for a pressurized. To my knowledge, RT Aerospace's pods are for normally aspirated airplanes only. So here are my questions:

1.) Do you know of a source for a baggage pod for a P337?
2.) Do you have a baggage pod on your P337, or on one you fly?
3.) Have you ever seen a baggage pod mounted on a P337?

The pod mounts to the bottom of the airplane, and since you seal the floor, it should be doable. I know that Chachi has a pod on his '73, which is the same configuration as your pressurized model.
It should be very doable.

Larry, yes as you can see mine has the pod but it is a normally aspirated 75, 337G. Never heard of, or saw a P337. Chachi

Fabulous paint job!! My pod has a lighter color paint and I am constantly scrubbing exhaust remnants from it. I suspect repainting the pod would save alot of elbow grease.

Pat, with the dark color on the pot and the rear engine you do not have to worry about how clean it looks after every flight. I used a dark green

I checked the Cessna Parts catalog for P337's and they did install cargo pods on P337's (ref figure 149 of P337 IPC). Since our pod is dimensionally identical to the Cessna pod, adding the P337 to our STC effectivity is not a problem.

I would probably revise the Cessna installation instructions to require small doublers at the attach points through pressure skin (forward attachments).
