I'm bumping this old thread since we have a dead tach on the front engine that I need to troubleshoot.

What is the most likely cause and can I assume that it is indeed a magnetic coil that sends the signal to the gauge and NOT a breaker unit as suggested in the SM ?

Thanks!

Swap the wires on the gauges to test if the gauge is bad Most likely the pick up coil or broken wire I just replaced the one on my rear engine
