Almost ready to take orders
Ill have a few of these dome lights ready to ship soon. I also tested a glossy look and a frosted look on a failed part to see if that is something people would like to choose. I also finally matched the same opaque white of the original. Curing time and post processing is what is taking so long for the part to be able to handle the interior temperatures of our birds.

I'm currently looking for a material solution... the 6 resin casts in the picture failed the heat deflection test. Basically the dome light will sag in the dead summer heat. I'm working on a PETG or ABS solution which both of those material can withstand upto a 200F during the summer heat.
Dome lights are coming soon, I promise. |

Im building up stock now...$60 Shipped
Everyone,
After awhile of looking for a suitable material, I found one and tested that it is capable upto 160F, and held its shape. I am sending out two of them today for evaluation. I also found a plastic company I might be working with to help with a higher production, since at the moment its just me. They are an off-white in color, and almost the same opacity to the original. The only question now is how much? To be honest, I would give them away, just because I love our planes so much, unfortunately it does take time and materials to make. I was looking in the range of $60 shipped. Send me a PM titled "DomeLight", if your interested in one, so I can get a list together to know how many to make. I have 8 right now ready to go, first come first serve. To Dan and Mark, please post your honest opinions when you get them. Thank You. Luis Last edited by ljmolina : 11-29-22 at 10:59 AM. |
