Highest past TBO time seen on io-360?

Just curious how far these engines can be pushed.

Normally aspirated, rear engine 2300 hours, front engine 2200 hours. In both cases the engines were still performing fine. The rear was exchanged with a factory reman because the mechanic was concerned about continuing to approve it. The front developed a crack in the block. Treat them right, use them consistently, don't let them sit, one pilot at the controls and these engines will provide you with plenty of life.

2 Factory Reman's installed 1988...

1750 each engine and counting...

I've flown 1100 of these hours over last 17 years...

Stored in insulated, heated, dry hangar, and flown 50 to 100 hrs per year for last 17 years.

Longest idle time, 5 maybe 6 weeks during coldest part of winter, based in Chicago area.

Normally the plane flies every 1 to 2 weeks for at least 2 hours

Just completed annual inspection last month and all good. Clean filters, fine compression, borescope pictures of valves all normal.

Fly on with fingers crossed!!!

Time on engines

Both front and rear engines had about 2300 before I replaced them. That is on TSIO-360 CB engines. Herb is right. Fly often and keep them cool and they will go many hours. I get oil changes done ever 40 to 50 hours.
