Janitrol heater for Turbo model for sale

I've decided to upgrade my turbo 337 to C&D's maintenance free replacement for the janitrol heater.

Any feedback on the C&D out there, positive or negative?

Their heater has been around since 1998 without any ADs being issued, which means so far so good. 2,000 heater hour TBO and 4 year pro-rated warranty.

My janitrol just passed its pressure decay test with flying colors, but it's becoming harder to find someone around here equipped to keep doing the pressure test every 24 months.

Figure my old janitrol will need a new ignition unit, about $600.

If there is anyone uot there whose heater has failed the pressure decay, but still has a good igniter, then my old one will snap together quite fine.

But I'm going to the C&D version. Low maintnance, long TBO, less fuss. Might eventually get the thermostat upgrade too!

Will keep advised if all goes as represented. Should arrive March 10th or so.

The folks at C&D will be doing a presentation on Friday, June 13th. If anyone else is contemplating a new heater, or service on your existing one, C&D will offer a 'show discount' during the fly in. In addition, they can perform the maintenance, or change out, at their facility at KBEH, while you are attending the conferences.

We will gladly provide a shuttle to pick you up at BEH, and return you when the work is done.

Two questions on this thread:
1) Has anyone taken advantage of the C&D special show pricing and put in their heater replacement. If so, what was the cost of the heater, and what was teh cost of the labor to swap it out. pirep on it?
2) IO've looked throughout my POH and can not seem to find the fuel flow requirement for the Janitrol heater on my T337C. I understand my new JPI fuel flow gauiges will not reflect the fuel used by the heater and I want to makie sure I'm calculating actual burn with the heater turned on...anyone have the fuel flow numbers?

As I recall it was about $3k. I haven't nailed down the install cost yet, as it was part of a lot of other work, but will advise when I've got a number.

In my turbo 1969 T337D it was a bit tighter then expected, and required some mod of the cross-over bracket holding the combustion fan. I wondered why my mech didn't just use the combustion fan mounted to the heater, and will ask that question.

I'd also asked the shop that put it in to check the fuel pressure, which I believe they forgot to do, so the heater works, but fails to roast in cruise.

I suspect the fuel pressure regulator and/or fuel pump from 1969 may be a bit tired.

Will update as it gets finished off.

I also recall that the pilot should assume 1 GPH being used from the front engine tanks for heating.
