Replaced my original nav lights

Transitioned from non-strobing incandescent to strobing LED. Difference is insane; really happy with results. Installed clear lenses at the same time. These aren't STC'd so you have to be comfortable with a "changed light bulb" log entry.

My new wingtip lenses just arrived from Great Lakes Aero so that will be the next project.

That is disco-pimp!
Looks like you have a real nice hangar.

What brand of LED light did you go with?

Thanks. It's not fancy but it's warm and dry.

Here you go...everything in blue is a link:

Long/short story...they're the latest version of the NavStrobe Sextant brand that Aircraft Spruce sells for $450USD. Except that guy on Beechtalk thought that Spruce were being a little hefty with the markup so he tracked down the supplier and bought in bulk for his buddies on the ramp. He had a few sets leftover that he posted for sale on BT and it caught on quickly.

He recently got the latest 40w design and I sprang for a pair. It was $100USD including USPS priority shipping to Canada. It didn't include the clear lenses so I bought a pair of those from Spruce for about $15USD each.

Nice guy and the product seems great.

I've also got an LED T10 wedge rear position light coming directly from NavStrobe and some 28v maplights from LedTronics specifically designed for aircraft coming shortly. I'll do threads on those when they arrive.

Im jealous. The hangar I have my plane in (shared) is far from warm. I figured winter in BC wasn't going to be very flyable, so it was a great time to do a bunch of heavy maintenance and upgrades.

I regret that decision.

I did spring for the Whelen LED tail light just recently. Doesn't have blinky-blinky, but its bright enough to arc weld with!
Your nav lights look really good. I have a wingtip strobe kit laying around that I have yet to install, and I want to add LED nav lights at the same time. Been going back and forth on what brand to use.

AEROLED's are in the process of getting these PMA/TSO approved:

Yours is a G model...it didn't come with nav/strobe assembly in the wingtip?

By the time they get to Canada, you and I are looking at $1500 + labor for an STC'd Whelen/Aeroled/Aveo wingtip nav/strobe assembly. That's where I draw the line. I understand that flying is expensive but I have a 40 year old Cessna not a new Boeing...I'm not buying $1500 light bulbs.

Nope. That was an option, and the original owner never ticked that box.

I do have a strobe up on the top of each fin though.
Over time I plan on having the thing lit up like a Christmas tree.

LEDs = Turn em on and leave em on.
I'm a big fan of being seen.
