I am not sure the difference...when I rebuilt my actuator it had the metal pin with the plastic guide...I can only assume that maybe the pin was non-metallic before??? The SIL refers to this "Improved Actuator Spring guide" as "all steel construction" - but as you can see from the picture, it is definitely not "all steel".
