Can anybody help.
I am looking for two IO-360-G for a 77 F337G part used engines would be ok. Got any idea's Thanks Pete Somers

Engines Required
Thanks Larry I will give them a try,
I did not realise that this subject had been covered, however I have a Skymaster grounded due to the crank AD and i am in need of a couple of engines ASAP. The a/c is in the South of France, so i was hoping you guys could help me out. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks Pete

Pete.
Are you located permanently or is the AC in transit? Check with Riley as they are always pulling engines to do the superskyrocket upgrades. Maryanne can help. You probably want to get rid of the lightweight blocks and go to the CB version which is more robust. Secondly you want to make sure you have the new var cranks in any engine you are going to use for replacement. If you cannot find low time recent engines then the remans is by far the cheapest way to go. I assume the engines you have now were made by rolls royce. fyi bob

OOOPS!! Didn't realize A/C was in France. MaryAnn has some customers from Europe, but getting an engine to France will be a big deal. Perhaps someone from the UK could help. Also, Rheims made skymasters for a while, and other than a name, I don't have any information on them. Perhaps someone else has. I did a quick search on the Web for them, and can't find them. SORRRY!

IO360 G, GB engines
Pete,
Is your aircraft normally aspirated or is it a turbo? The crank AD should not ground the aircraft or is that a reg in France? I believe the var crank comes into play when the engine needs o/h and the case is split. I don't know if Riley would have any normal G series engines however it would not hurt to check. Pete,
When I bought my 1971 F337F, I also got another partly dismantled 337 in the deal. It’s a 337D s/n 1088, supposedly complete, including a cargo pod, but ex props, bu it does have two engines. I have no idea in what state these engines are, I will know more within a week when I go pick up this A/C. It has a damaged wing and from what I was told, it’s not worth the trouble to repair, so the idea is to remove anything that looks usable, and then scrap what’s left. The engines should probably be considered to be cores at best, until we had a good look at them. Let me know if you are interested… Blue Skies! /Sten S

1) Put the plane on the N-reg if it is a French regulation problem. You then follow the FAA's more sensible rules. Which AD are you getting caught on? 2) If your plane is a Reims Cessna, it has a different Type Certificate so most AD's are not applicable, although they are obviously advisable to follow. 3) I can give you the name of a good O/H shop here in England if that would help. They operate on a "you buy the parts" plus labour basis. They know TCM360's. Dave - N456TL

Thanks for the info.
Will check with Riley. Just to answer your questions. The Skymaster is F337G s/n 0081 and worse than French reg it is UK reg and based in France. Our CAA picked up that AD96-26-17 is applicable to these engines. They have 1700hrs on them so splitting them to find the crank p/n would not be worth it. Sten - I would be interested in knowing the state of the engines. We will look into all your comments. Many thanks Pete

In a message about engines, I told someone else everything I know about doing engines over. i should have done the same for you, and didn't. I hereby swear to all concerned I will never be short with somone who's looking for help. Certainly, I have gotten lots of help from everyone here (remind me to tell you about accumulating airframe ice!!).
so that's the deal. Hope things are well with you. BTW, where in France are you located? My wife and I got married in Nice, 2 years ago, then celebrated my birthday, the next day, in Monte Carlo.

Hey Larry no problem, i have done the same thing myself!!
I am based in the UK, and the Skymaster belongs to a friend who has asked me to try and find some engines for him. He has it based in Biarittz and the a/c is British registered. Just had an avionics upgrade GNS 430/KCS55A/RMI. It is a nice low time Skymaster. Looked after it since it was new in '77. I have past on the info you kindly sent to me. I went to Denmark and picked up the spare Skymaster Tuesday. The engines look pretty good externally, soaking of oil. They were removed from the airframe several years ago and have been stored in a warm hangar since. The guy who removed them is no longer around and I don’t know their history yet. I didn’t get the a/c documentation and journals Tuesday, but was told it will be sent later. I’ll be back with more info as I get better informed… Blue Skies! /Sten
