We talked to both Century nd S-Tec at Oshkosh. Both of them claim to have autopilots STC'd for the skymasters. I'm not sure exactly which models, but I think S-tec claims the whole line. S-tec says their STC's have been reinstated. We have not followed up on this, but you may want to check with them again for recent status.

I just pulled the STC list that S-tec was distributing at the show the following autopilots are listed as STC'd for the 337G, F337G, T337G and FT337GP...Models 20, 30, 40, 50, 55, 60-2, 65 and 60PSS.

Good luck - If you want to follow up, MEGGIT S-TEC's phone number is listed as (940) 325-9406.

Post 400B vs. S-TEC

Kevin B,

Congrats on N325... thought that airplane would make somebody very pleased. Before you 'discard' the 400B -- which by the way is a WONDERFUL piece of gear when it's properly adjusted -- check around for a reputable outfit to get it synched and working properly. Seems there was an outfit in Oklahoma City that specialised in these.

If you cannot get things straightened away with the 400B, the S-TEC series are definitely STC'd for your paricular model. Not by choice.... but only because it was installed by the previous owner... our 1977 P-model has an S-TEC 50 system with altitude hold installed and it works as advertised and have never had a problem with it.

But again, you're looking at needless expense if you don't shop around for a specialist in the 400B department. It'd be better to get it working that spending all the moola for an S-TEC!\

Autopilots Central in OKC is likely the outfit that Skyking is thinking of. Very expert on the Cessna autopilots. I believe they spoke at the last SOAP fly-in.

Auto pilots central was supposed to speak at PWA, and cancelled.

Jerry DeSantis had his serviced at Muncie (IN), and he said they did a good job. Reasonable pricing.

I spoke to the folks at Chelton (at OSH), and they have announced a new autopilot, however they are developing STC's slowly, and it will probably be September, when they do some other upgrades, before you could consider their equipment.

Munice

Can't say enough good thing about them. Great job, they know what they are doing and reasonable price. Fixed my auto while I waited. Took about two hours.
The wait seemed short since there is a good restaurant next to them on the fiels. Call and set up a time with them.
Cheers
Jerry

Jerry,

You might consider posting "who" in Muncie you are talking about...business name and phone number, which airport if there is more than one...

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks every one. We'll see what the results are. We had them repair it when we frist got the plane, but as larry can attest it took a dump as we were flying along at 8000 ft IMC just went in to a 1500ft rate of desent.
We are holding our breath (wallet)
Looking forward to the 430 340 and a 2nd nav/com on board through.
