starter recommendation

My starter has failed. The sky tech starters are widely sold. But I thought I read something about them being hard on the starter adapter. Question is Sky-Tec (now Hartzell owned?) or not. BTW, Cirrus recommends the Sky-Tec as their preferred for the Continental IO-550. Supposedly helps hot start issues too?

It seems to me that Niagara Air Parts chimed in on this. They mentioned a model that would keep their starter adapter warranty in place. It appears the starter of choice is the ST-5.

Many failed starters are due to starter circuit wiring issues and low voltage to the starter. Simply replacing the starter into a circuit with cable issues will be a temporary repair.

The starter was genuinely bad, bad brushes. Went with OEM so as not to introduce new issues with upgraded starter hard on mature mechanicals. But, per other discussions, checked wiring. Cleaned inspected cables and replaced contactor. Ground strap surprisingly corroded. Don’t forget to check the grounds too.
