Intermittent flap problem

Hello all,

So here's my problem, the flaps on my O-2A (M337B) have an intermittent fault. Activate them and they will travel to the appropriate position (1/3 or full down) but then they get stuck there and won't retract. A bit embarrassing when it happens during a local charter and you are speed limited due to stuck flaps!

So I leave it overnight and come back the following day and, Hey Presto! They work fine. A few days later it happens again... Leave it on the Tarmac for a day or two, and same deal... They work!

The O-2 has the flap motor in the ceiling so the next step is remove the sound proofing and have a closer look at the limit switches, and other components, although one of the local engineers suspects it's a microswitch/connection problem within the selector loom on the panel.

Anyone have a similar problem or any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Conway

I wouldn't fly the airplane until this is fixed What happens if they get stuck in the full down postion and you have to go around?? Is the risk worth your life and your passengers???
