Movie Info

Three Skymasters were employed to assist in the filming of the Wasp Network. The film is to be released Fall 2020.

The aircraft to participate and their crews were:
N4811X - George Adams and Diana Mei
N5476S - Mike Punziano and Ranko Arsic
N86071 - Les Perryman, Mike Shepard and David Bernard
Another aircraft was employed in the film as well. N632AH a C 182 flown by Brandon Anderson.
Filming was done in Havana on April 8-11 2019. A Cuban MI 160 reported to be Cuban Air Force One was used as the camera ship. Flown by a Two Star General.
We performed all flights in Cuba with permission. We flew formation flights and some solo shots. Most on the ground shots used N4811X as the aircraft. N86071 flown by Ranko Arsic did one sortie with the Camera Ship down the beach of Havana at 30'. It took five takes but there should be some fantastic footage.
How things have changed but just think three 1969 D model Cessna Skymasters are invited to fly to Cuba to film a story about Cuban exiles and their plight in 2019. A little more than 20 years earlier the three Skymasters assisting those exiles were attacked by Cuban fighters. Two were shot down and one escaped.

general is an unknown quantity at this point
True on how things changed, we wouldn't even fly the Cayman Caravan from Key West or Cuba after that happened.

The reason Cuba allowed the movie to be shot there is simple - the movie is pro-Castro propaganda. Its told from the perspective of the Cuban spies, not Brothers to the Rescue. Even the critics call it "playful propaganda". I'm not sure how playful it is when it involves shooting down 337's and pilots losing their lives. Still love seeing our birds on the big screen though!
