Riley Short-Field Take-off

I was told by a friend with a Riley Super Skyrocket that Riley would do a 2/3rd's (or 20% depending on model) flap takeoff for short-fields Is anyone familiar with more than a 10% or 1/3rd flap take-off as the POH states? ......I've googled and need some ole school advice.

Use as much flap as aileron travel for max performance

I've got the Horton STOL and not the Robertson.

That's good, same recipe
Select max travel on the aileron and match the flap angle

Comes from the Robertson STOL training they did many moons ago. Back country flying uses this technique frequently for short T/O procedures
