Birdstrike. Need Part # for 337C

Dad killed a red-tailed hawk with his starboard landing light lens cover. Never even knew it until he started to put it in the hangar. The problem is neither of us have a parts manual handy(mine's 70 miles away in Nashville and his is in Naples). Does anyone know the part number for the replacement lens?

I think you want a 1422550-12 if your aircraft S/N is up to 337-0379 or 1422550-20, which is the more current number. But it's for the entire lamp assembly, and there's no P/N for just the lens. See figure below. Shouldn't be hard to find from yards that disassemble aircraft. Try Don Nieser first at 405-503-4686 or 405-722-4079.

Try here. Cheapest I have found if Don doesn't have it.
Good quality. Comes PMAed. Installing it is interesting if the aircraft is STOL equipped.

Thanks. We'll check them out too. It's not STOL equipped, so we don't have that hurdle to jump.

At least dad didn't have to land in the Hudson.

Dad got the part from Great Lakes Aero Plastics. $35 plus shipping and handling. He received the part Thursday morning, got all the screws out of the frame O.K. and the new lens fit perfectly. Done.

He killed a hawk with his Skymaster and it cost him less than $50 for repairs. It probably would have cost more if I had killed one with my car.

Thanks Ernie and K337A for your help.

The real jewel here is K337A finding just the lens at Great Lakes Aero Plastics. This "find" was important enough that I added Great Lakes to the source list on the Parts Purchasing page of my "backup" Skymaster website at www.SkymasterUS.com

During my re-furbish last winter, I had visited GLAP in Flint, MI to pick up my new windows for the complete cabin. They were a lot of help and great prices too. Below is a link to the thread that describes my process of taking the old windshield to them to size up the new one and simplify the process. I too highly recommend them.

Windshield install horror

We started to install the windshield last night. Within about 2 hours we had it trimmed and ready to mount. Amazing, I was really fearing this process but it went slick. I owe a big thanks to the guys at Great Lakes Aero for fitting this new windshield while I was there at their factory. I was able to take my old windshield to them when I picked up my new units. They took my old windshield and fitted the new unit to my old one. I can only think that this may have helped in the fitting process last night. If fact the first time we tried to fit the w/s last night we actually pushed it right into place with minimal effort. We had to trim a little on the starboard lower side and that was about it.
