Landing gear doors

I saw the other thread that talked a lot about LG door removal STC, and I guess that's worth considering.

But here's the problem, lmk thoughts:

Gear down cycle, works great with no issues at all. Everything goes down, doors close and lock in place, green light, handle kicks back to neutral. All good.

LG up has an issue...handle up,doors open , wheels go up,doors close, amber light comes on...then doors immediately fall open. Handle never returns to neutral, amber light stays lit.
Manually return handle to neutral and then can pump doors closed.

Initially thought it was just low on hydraulic fluid. So topped it off. It was low, but now full...issue still exists.

Thinking that if it was a wheel microswitch, the amber light wouldn't light up.

Thoughts on things to check?

Could be air in the system. It happened to me. Others may know better how to purge the system. I put it up on jacks and cycled the gear repeatedly many many times. Air is gone.

Air

Could be, it was low when I added a bunch for the top off. I'll try cycling more. Worth a shot.

Just added fluid to mine after having the rear gear pump was off Opened the doors with the hand pump Fired it up and put handle in down postion to close doors See how long it takes to go back to neutral . Hold handle down for a few seconds. Do the same precedure again and time it agian. It should get quicker as air is bleeds out.

Door switch

I'll try to look at it when I get back out to plane. Just seems weird that the doors close fine and handle kicks back to neutral on down action, but not up.

Check the fluid level after you flown it, and cycled the gear a few more times...check for fluid leaks as it take more pressure cycling the gear up than down. Just a thought.

Check uplock microswitches too

Gear doors are designed to pop open if uplock or down lock circuits are not closed.
To prevent doors interfering with gear going up or down.

Check micro switches that engage w uplocks.
As i recall, just pump doors open and they are easily visible.

If they don’t make nice clean click, spray w contact or brake cleaner until they do.
Can also develop crappy contact ends.
Or replace w same from digikey or other source.
