GMAs is on a distinguished road
Angry Ahhhhh.... what about the props?????

I just got a message asking about the prop... when and how should it be serviced.... seems the guy from down under has never had his prop removed in the .... 35 years since the plane was manufactured... ahhhhh someone either has or else this guy is real lucky....

But, he defends himself bysaying that their is no record of any serviceing on it... however the edge seems to have been dress down a few times because of the filing marks... Hmmmmmm.....

Neither the engine or prop are at TBO as yet... as they both are still at 1689 hrs.... what do you think... when was yours looked at... and what do you and your mechanic look for....

Yep this guy is living on borrowed time... as it clearly states that the prop should be overhauled at a specific period of time.. and/or DATE... and 35 years is just a little too long to wait... I would think...

Where do we find out about propeller blade care... well first we can check out the new methode... the internet... go look for AC 20-37D.... and read it... AC 43-13...(that great manual/book that is real cheep and is the bible for all other items not covered in the service manual) is another...

And once your done inspecting... how many of you go grab the first rattle can of paint and start doing some artistic type stuff to your prop... Hmmmm no one I know... you need to again look in the Prop Owners Manual to see what they recomend ... and want...

You say you don't have a prop owners manual... well you need to try and get one... as well as you now need to have the propeller broken out of your log books... one for fwd and rear.... it makes the AD checking and servicing easier.... as well as the new regs say you should have one... might check again with the manufacture or one of the supply houses...

And what about overspeed... was one of the questions... well... good question.. did you know that you put and extra 10 to 20 tons... yep tons of pressure on the prop blades.... when you overspeed and that their are limits to the time and amount of overspeeding... before the prop is a item that is to be hun over the fire place... yep their are...

Be aware of the prop for it bears your bottom... loseing a portion can cause you to lose your life... so watch them nick and scratches... and if in doubt... check it out..... with either the prop shop or your mechanic... this is an area you don't want to be cheep in.... they have and do come appart with a bang... and the outcome is quite deading.... especially in our types of planes...
