Ice light

Has anyone had recent experience replacing the ice observation light bulb on the left side of the fuselage.

The word we got back yesterday was that Cessna had destroyed the tooling and the bulb assemblies were no longer available.

It is shown as item 138-33 part no. 1570396-1, but there seems to be no other detail as to bulb type etc. or equivalent.

Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks - Dave

ice light

Dave

I have an ice light and it is a quartz lamp. I have replaced it once, however, it is probably impossible to find a new or used one around (assembly).

Grimes makes these lights and check their catalogue. I think the max depth should be about 5-6 inches and the light is around 4-5 inches in diameter. It is a pressurized fitting with a relatively heavy frosted lens.

Again... try Grimes or Whelen and use a 337 form.

deice bulb

Dave
I am not 100% sure but I think the bulb is a Grimes A7074-24 or Whelen W7074-24. I'll have to pull one out of one of our plane Monday to be sure.

Thank you for that. Job done!

Let there be light and along with the new boots installed and operational, I feel better already.

I can now see the ice as it forms. Good news or bad news depending on your point of view. At least now I can also get rid of it as well.

Thanks for the assistance. It helps to know before you start to attack the problem.

Regards - Dave
