Garmin Stack Upgrades

Has anyone done an upgrade to a Garmin stack who would be willing to share the experience and pass on any thoughts either on the board or via e-mail?

Regards - Dave

I upgraded a couple of yrs ago and, as far as I'm concerned, it's the best money I have invested in the plane yet. All I did was the audio panel (gma 340) and the 430. The audio panel allows in flight movies for the kids (portable dvd) and in flight music (portable satellite radio). The 430 is a breeze to learn (I came from a garmin 195) and it is a HUGE benefit in IFR conditions. I am in the midwest and have rcvd "direct" for EVERY flight filed since I have owned it.

Next bank I rob I am upgrading to the GDL49 (wx).

Talking Upgrade

I upgraded in 2002 to full Garmain panel. A 340, 530, GTX327, WX500 stormscope and kept my King KX155, KN62 DME and Collins ADF. Panel looks good and have good redundancy. 550 is a fantastic unit, easy to learn and does more than anyone really needs. Next upgrade will be replacing the GTX327 with the GTX330. Really love the idea of traffic on my 550 screen.
