Baggage or rear passenger weight

Interesting item...i am considering a flight with a passenger in the far rear seats...on the load chart it says bag limit is 160# net but passenger net us 360#...what the heck? Weight is weight, right? Why woukd you be able to take twice+ lbs of people back there, than bags?
What am i missing?

I think it is referring to the max the baggage net is rated for...mine has four tie down clips back there for a net that I'm sure was there back in 73'. Just a guess?

1969 T337D My little cessna sticker shows 360 lbs

I can't recall exactly what or when I was told, but the weight limit had to do with the floor structure being able to handle 360 lbs at 4g, etc.

Net

I agree - I believe the limitation on the Baggage Net (160 lbs) is the limitation on the net itself and its attaching structure, and not the floor structure. The maintenance manual details the available cargo net in the 4 or 5 place configuration, and shows a number of different cargo tie down arrangements. since it can attach to the seat belt latches, seat rails or even dedicated tie downs, my guess is the net that was available from Cessna had a limitation. The P/N is 0500236-2 . (1965-1973)
