Insight Flow sensors onto an IO-360-GB

This is research for a G4 Twin engine monitor install.
Anyone have experience (and possibly pictures) of installing Insight Avionics flow sensors onto an IO-360-GB engine (337H)? Their website shows it to be (without fittings) 2" long in the flow direction x 1.77" (about twice that size once you add fittings and electrical connector) x 1.65" high. Best place I can figure to put it is under the alternate air scat hose with new inlet and outlet ho$e$, assuming the hoses can be prevented from moving. Insight details the sensor to be level with straight runs in and out to avoid turbulence.

Thanks
Pat

Did you find a solution

Hi Pat,

How did you make out on installing the flow sensor? I am getting ready to install the G4, and have the same question you do.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, in the end we did not go ahead with G4 install but will at some time. The recommendation was to replace the hose going to the flow distributor with two shorter pieces and have the fuel flow sensor in the middle mounted inline "floating" with the hose which is properly secured by the installer, who hopefully has done such installs before. We also had difficulty figuring out where to connect the oil temperature sensor, which cannot replace the existing unit because the G4 is not a primary instrument aside from CHT/EGT. The avionics shop we talked to (BrantAero at CYFD) had a location they had used before, as the alternates suggested by Insight were blocked by the governor unit or did not exist on our engine.

Sensors

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the quick feedback! I was wondering the same thing about the oil temp. I will need to sort that out as well I am sure.
Thanks for the help.

FYI
on the IO-360 C I used the oil port just to the left of the crankshaft on the front of the block for oil temp. I would think your engine would have this port also. If not I would contact Continental Motor for info, they are fantastic to work with

Thanks Herb! I will have a look at that on my engine.

This site is the best for sharing info - thanks to all.

Jeff, I have the G4 Twin (love it) and I'm piggybacking from the Shadin fuel flow transducers. I'll grab you a pic of the location tomorrow.

Regards,

John

Pictures

Thanks John!

Any pictures of the install are appreciated. I am planning to 'T' into the oil pressure indication from in the panel (at the Cessna gauges), but did you do something different? Any advice on any of it is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Here's the fuel flow transducers; the square aluminum boxes of course. They're plumbed into the main fuel line:

My oil pressure are taken directly front the crankcase; front of the engine not far from the propeller hub.

Thanks! Those locations should work for the Insight as well, and allow reuse of the existing hose for one of the legs. Is the white wire connecting to a temperature probe?

Thanks John!

Appreciate those pictures John - I see exactly now where I will mount my sensors.
