buying a P337 to replace NA 337
Have been thinking about this recently. Currently have a NA 337G that needs an avionics upgrade and cool with doing that.
I see a lot of P337 for sale that are well equipped and include A/C, which would be a nice add in midwest.. prohibitive expense to do with current as we all all know. The issues I usually see with P337 are usually involved around the pressurization side. What if you buy a P337 and don't care about that? Fly as non pressurized. 10-12 with well equipped avionics, A/C and if you want to go higher just suck O2. I'd love to know thoughts and real world TAS in those altitude ranges. Usually fly in 7-11 range current and 155-160TAS depending. Just thinking if one were to spend call it 100k to do upgrade and A/C, what's wrong with considering selling and spending the extra on one that already has it. Does the "pressure" side have to be working for the aircraft to be airworthy? Would love the members thoughts. |

Thoughts from a T model owner, non-pressurized
What year/style is your currrent bird?
What I've heard is insurance on the P models getting harder / pricier. Other thing not obvious, in the P model the AC MUST be working, you can't just open a vent window if it's not. As owner of a RSTOL T model, for years I suffered from "AE" ("airstair envy"). But then we had a P model at Potomac. I noted the upper airstair door is constrained by the wing, so entering a bit of a tunnel. Not a big thing but.... Post what, '73 or '75, you lose the cargo door. With family or things to carry thats really handy. I leave out my 3rd row seats and essentially have a HUGE trunk back there. Also, the earlier style feel much more open. Notably larger windows. Post 73/75 Cessna didn't want to keep making two airframes so they are all "P" design. Smaller round windows, etc. Somewhat claustrophobic for an ex helicopter owner/pilot. Again, just a different feel. Try to find one to see up close.
