Syncrophaser

Our Synchrophaser is out. It's been out a while, but it used to work.

When I put it in the "sync" position, the light just flashes but doesn't sync up, even when I have matched up the RPM's very carefully by hand.

As a test, I turned it on with the engines not running. The light stays on solid. I suppose that this tells you that the system is correctly detecting that the system is synched at that point (which it obviously would be), but I can't remember the exact point of this test.

Anyway, just wondering if anybody had any clues on what to check first.

Hi Kyle

The main problem we had with these is the pickup on the prop governors.
They are either set incorrectly or they go open cicuit.
The pickups should be set as-per the manual, which i think you screw them in until it stops then unscrew a quarter on a turn, but check with the manual.
Check that both pickups read thru with a meter.

Have a look at the motor and the microswtches, If i remember rightly the motor should be at one end of it,s travel when switched off, so that you get full prop control movement.

If the system is a SP105 the manual is quite good, and it shows you how to build a test box.

My sync. did not work when I purchased my 337H. I think the G and H model are the same. We had 2 problems found. The sensor
on the rear engine was bad and the little motor on rear engine had a broken pig tail on motor brush. I had a small computer motor that had the same motor brush. So my repair was not to exspensive to correct.

I think I have found the problem (or part of it). The sensor on the rear engine is loose. My mechanic is going to have a look.
