Pitot Port

My new 1977 Reims built 337G has a pitot port on the leading edge of the left strut and no pitot tube. Are they all like this or is mine unique? Is there any differnece in operations with this system? It seems to work great so far...

It messes with the avionics shops when it comes time for the alti-calibration, purely because they're not used to seeing it.

There is a T fitting just above it in the wing that you can tie into.
Its also worth noting that the usual "tape over top, connect the unit as required" doesn't work worth a damn. There is always an air gap between the probe itself and the strut fairing, so it'll register as a leak in the Pitot system.

Undo the two screws on the leading edge, and lift the thing out. Much better results!

Static ports on either side of the front, as per a "normal" Cessna.

Leighton.
