Allowed engines in each model year

My reading of the type certificate (http://www.337skymaster.com/messages...2&d=1489027004) says that IO-360-D engines were allowed on the rear of 337, 337A and 337B models, but not allowed on any models after that. Is that correct?

Jim

Check with Continental directly as lots has changed. They are great to work with and will be very helpful for your questions.

I talked to them and they confirmed what I thought - the only way to change to an engine that's not on the TC is with an STC, or a field approval with a form 337 filed with the FAA.

What are you trying to have approved? Why?

I think the big difference between the C and D is the starter drive. the drive on the C has pads for the Hyd pump and the vacuum pump. I you get a factory engine with a B in it,
(ie IO360 CB--) past a certain S/N you have 200 more hrs. TBO

I found a 1969 337D model with a IO-360-D engine, and that's not listed as approved on the TC. There is no STC or form 337 approving the swap. I believe it's an invalid engine for that plane.
