Owen Bell (see Web Sites section of this site) has new and refurbished cowl flap motors. I have not heard a report on the quality of these units.

Search the site (use Search function above) for the word "cowl" and you will find lots of messages on this subject.

If you can find an A&P with an electronics background (usually they work at Avoioncs shops), they can disassemble and clean them and usually make a big improvement. I had a problem with my front motor filling with oil due to an oil leak we were having trouble solving, and I had this done several times. If something is burnt out, they won't have parts though.

Please do the search, it seems to me that someone else was coming up with a cowl flap motor solution recently.
