Still working on the element, it is wired in series with the thermostat. The thermostat should be bonded to the bottom of the pitot, it appears you heater is missing in the circuit.

So apparently someone in the past glued the heat blanket to the inside of the strut fairing. That is where it is now. It's also probably why when I test the thermostat only it pops the breaker because nothing is going through the heat blanket.
I'm hoping to maybe just find an entire pitot unit with the heating elements I can replace this with, but all help and suggestions are appreciated. I've called everyone that's been suggested to me with no real luck. |

Pitot Heater
Recommend, You dig it out and reattach it to the block. The installation calls for a bead of RTV to be put on it so it sticks to the inside of the fairing with no air gaps. The photos seems to indicate the pad is out of the circuit. It needs ot be in the circuit or the thermostat will likely pop. The pad itself does degrade with time. I was able to buy one of the last remaning ones. I found it on Controller using the part number for the heating pad.
Best of luck!

Gord,
Thanks for the info. I hope this helps. I'm passing this on to my avionics tech to do now. Tripp |
