We have a 396 yoke mounted and that is all I want on the yoke.
I'm toying around with some other ideas, will let you know if anything looks like it will work. JB |

First suggestion is to use the iPad mini, this is the best size for our aircraft. You will want to set it up for portrait viewing. The mini will fit nicely on the yoke in portrait configuration. Other options are the suction ball mount from Ram. The Ram suction mount will provide several options depending on your cockpit load. If flying alone the mini can be mounted on the right side of the windscreen and provide a nice view and use for most flights. For approaches in IMC you will probably want the mini closer on the yoke or knee.
Unless you plan to use the Stratus or Garmin portable ADS-B units you should buy the Cellular capable iPad mini. It has the built in GPS. Much better than having to use a separate GPS and having to make sure it's always charged up and usable. The iPad mini with built in GPS will connect with no problem in a Skymaster pilot seat. Also buy at least 32 Gig storage and really the 64 is best. Because I fly so many different aircraft I have my mini velcro'd to the inside cover of a small three ring binder. I can open the small scale binder and my iPad is always right there on my left knee with the flight log on my right knee in the binder rings. In my personal Skymaster I have a goose neck Ram mount secured to the copilot seat and I can use a variety of Ram ball mounts to attach the iPad and it sits right between the seats with adjustable height. It can be a problem with a huge guy in the right side but is really nice when flying alone up front. I am really comfortable with the binder set up and allows me to go from plane to plane without setting up any mounts.

Here's what we do. Ram mount for a mini on both yokes. Sorry for the dark picture.
