I had requested both CY 2018 and 2019 stickers to cover both sides of the break.
Lesson: if you plan to cross a border, make sure you get your sticker without a government shutdown to mess it up. Plan early.
Unless they have changed you can buy the sticker when you clear customs back here in the states.
