The longer part is on the inside of the cowl with a tapered end to allow the breather tube to slide on. It also has a ridge all the way around that will keep the hose clamp from coming off. Try McMaster Carr they may have a nipple similar to what you need of aluminum and then clean up the cowling and weld in the new one. The original may have been pressed in.

I have a photo that I think is on the forum of a mod that someone did that took the breather out the bottom of the engine nacelle instead of all over the prop. You might search breather on the site
Thanks Herb. There's still part of mine in the hose. I'm going to pull it out and see what it looks like.
