My pattern does not conform to GUMPS particularly. Here is what I do:

Gas: I frankly don't check, as my tank selectors are never moved except during the annual. This will not work for pre-73 Skymasters. On my '65, I did it at the same time as the first gear check.

Gear check three times (downwind, base, and final or outermarker, below 1000' and short final if on straight in approach).

Mixture: I do not richen the mixture at all, I leave it leaned. If I have to do a go around, my pattern is Mixture, Props and Throttles forward in that order. This keeps the spark plugs from fowling during the approach.

Props: I put them forward on final, when I do my last power reduction. This works out to turning final during a normal pattern, and below 1000' on a straight in.

Hope that is not too complicated. It is what I do, FWIW.
