re flap cable
Francisco
Looks can be deceiving. An overstressed cable can cause stretching and in turn, cause premature failure.
For the cost of a couple of cables I would recommend replacing it. The 337 is unlike the 210 and other flap systems. There is no follow-through cable. This cable interconnects flaps so in the event of a flap cable failure both flaps will retract equally.
In the case of the 337 a failure can cause one flap to remain extended. This is NOT a failsafe condition.
I would like to know how Cessna was able to have the A/C certified on the basis of a flap cable failure, extended flaps. Perhaps more diligence in the flap system is required as the fleet ages.
