Be careful when overhauling the fuel selectors. I sent out my rear selector and installed it on return. I did a complete ground run up at full power with no problems. When I took off the rear...

Thanks for the info. I presently have 3 airplanes for 3 different missions and a P337 would replace all 3 if it could legally go to FL250. That would save a lot in insurance, hangaring,...

Do you know what creates the 20,000 certified ceiling for the P337? Is it pressure differential about that altitude? Can the outflow valve be opened to maintain the approved differential and...

Inop condition

The rear cowl flap motor actually runs, but the shaft does not turn. The thinking is that the shaft is broken.

My question is this - rather than replace/repair the motor, as the logbooks attest...

Manual cowl flaps

Has anybody had experience with Owen Bell's manual cowl flap STC? My rear cowl flap motor is acting up and this could be a good and permanent solution. My log books tell me the motor has received...

Loose fitting

Here's what they found, although I can't confirm it has fixed the problem. Apparently, just ahead of the turbo is a clamp holding a boot in place and although the clamp was tight, the boot was not...

Fluctuating MP on rear engine

Yesterday I was flying my T337C and began to experience fluctuating MP (22"-26")on the rear engine. I had been flying at FL220 and was doing descending holds to 12,000 when the problem appeared. ...

Helmets

Has anybody ever considered flying with a helmet? The military wears them, civilian medevac wears them, airshow pilots wear them. Why doesn't GA?

My kids always wore helmets on their bikes, on...

Snowbound

Guy - I'll be flying weekly all winter and will be happy to fly or drive by and give a hand with shoveling. And maybe we can get some flying in together. You have my phone.

Gals/hr

You're right - 68 T337C is gallons per hour. I'll bet I'd need field approval, POH supplement, and so on to convert. Is that right? Anybody know a good instrument rebuild shop?

Spinning a 337

Someone once told me that 337s are a little unforgiving in a spin. Any truth to that? This story seems to come from O2 days when the legend goes that the pilot, when identifying a target, would max...

Progress

So far we found that the throttle cable was mis-adjusted so as not to give full throw at the throttle body. Easy fix. Found one induction leak, ordered gasket. Found the fuel flow instrument to be...

Continental cylinders

I know this is supposed to be about 337s, but 206s have big Continentals in them, and I fly them Part 135 occasionally. We were having lots of problems with cracked cylinders in those IO520s, and...

I think Kevin's right - there are two problems here. I sent this link to my mechanic who read it and liked the leaf blower idea, although we're going to use a shop vac. In the past they have run...

Good replies

Boy, this is good stuff. Leaf blower and soap - I'll try that - seems like a sensible and inexpensive way to eliminate (or identify) a problem. Mouse milk? What is that?

Clarification - when...

New owner - fuel pressures

I just bought a 68 T337C, my second Skymaster. My first, a normally aspirated 68 337C was a "bargain" priced original which needed everything done to it. I decided not to repeat that mistake and...
