Ok....I can understand that and I asked the same question to a 210 pilot I know years ago and his response was "just maintain it". Now does it make it safer....I'd say yes since you are removing...

If you are getting a T or P model the speedbrakes...
If you are getting a T or P model the speedbrakes really help getting down from alt without pulling the engines back too far...I think the rule of thumb is 2 inches of manifold pressure every 2...
