Need a overnight spot in Michigan

I am taking the family-three children ages 7,13 and 14 and one wife from Washington, DC to Flying Clound, Minn over the long labor Day weekend.

We will be leaving on Thursday evening late in the afternoon and I am looking for a place to spend the nite half way.

If anyone knows of a good airport that would have a Hotel very nearby, with something to see and/or do for the kids, please let me know your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Rick

Michigan Stay

Hi Rick,

Suggest you stop in Coldwater, Michigan (OBE) for fuel. $1.99 plus tax, total $2.17 a gallon. Than fly either to Battle Creek (BTL) or Kalamazoo (AZO) about 15 minute flight to either for over night stay. Plenty of good hotels in both cities.

If BTL, I am sure the family will enjoy visiting the Kellogg exhibit...tony the tiger etc.

If AZO, one of the best air museums, "Kalamazoo Air Zoo" is located on the airport and you can taxi up to it. Plenty to do. They show different films and tour all there facilities. F16's, F18's F14's SR71 black bird etc. Big kids like us really enjoy that!

I will be traveling Next Tuesday over seas until Sept. 4th. If your travel plans are before or after those dates let me know, Like to meet ya. I am based on BTL.

Cheers

Try pontiac michigan. great FBO, nice airport. no overnight charges, hotel two blocks away, good food close by and fuel on weekends is 1.99.

easy in and out with full ILS.

PTK and AZO

Both PTK and AZO offer lots of friendly folks.
As Jerry points out, There is lots to do here in AZO. No tiedown fees.
PTK has real cheap fuel. Check AirNav.com, there's a place just beyond a bunch of Beech 18's that is very inexpensive, nice folks, as well. Stopped there on my way east a couple of weeks ago.
In AZO and BTL, fuel is not cheap.
Give a shout if you are headed for AZO, Cell no is 269-330-8308. I keep my plane in GRR, as does Herb Harney.
