It's that time of the year, and August 16 we are having our annual Newmans Field Fly In. 11 AM - ??.
All are welcome, and encouraged to come and visit.

Hey Larry, I can't make it this year! I will be flying to Houston on Friday the 15th. For you folks that can make it, it is a very good flyin. Do one around the patch for me Larry.

Newmans' is 4N0, 9.6 miles from the AZO VOR, on the 316 Radial.

I'll coordinate later this week, but I'm guessing 11AM from GRR. I originally said 10, but 11 makes more sense.
That'll put us into 4N0 at 11:30, just in time for lunch.

MICHIGAN FLY IN'S HAVE BEEN GREAT.
ME AND THE 337 HAVE ATTENDED 8 FLY IN'S SO FAR THIS YEAR.
9 WITH OSHKOSH.
BUT THIS STATE REALLY OFFERS SOME VARIETY OF PANCAKE BREAKFASTS, LUNCH, AND STEAK COOK OUTS. IT HAS BEEN A REAL TREAT FOR THE FAMILY TO BE INVOLVED THIS YEAR WITH SUCH GREAT OUTINGS.

LARRY AND I PARTICIPATED IN ONE LAST SATURDAY AT NEWMAN'S FIELD. BESIDES FLYING FORMATION FROM GRR DOWN AS A FLIGHT OF 2 WITH ME IN THE LEAD, ON LANDING JUST AFTER I CLEARED THE ACTIVE LARRY WAS ON SHORT FINAL (LESS THAN 1/4 MILE) A STEARMAN DECIDED TO DEPART. WELL OUR FLIGHT OF 2 JUST GOT SEPERATED AS LARRY DID AN IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY GO AROUND. THEN LARRY FOUND OUT THAT THE NICE GUY WITHOUT RADIO CONTACT AT A UNCONTROLLED AIRPORT ON THE DAY OF THE ANNUAL FLY IN, WAS GOING TO BE HIS NEIGHBOR. YOU SEE LARRY HAS PROPERTY ON THE FIELD THAT IN THE FUTURE WILL BE THE LOCATION OF HIS RESIDENCE. AFTER A DISCUSSION WITH THE BI-PLANE PILOT I THINK THE RELATIONSHIP MIGHT BE RESTORED. THEN AS LARRY WAS PERFORMING HIGH SPEED, LOW, FLY BY'S HE WAS CUT OFF BY A JET RANGER AND THEN WHEN HE LANDED AND JUST GOT TOUCHED DOWN A RYAN JUST ABOUT MOWED HIM OVER WITH A FLY BY. IT GOT REALLY WILD AND A LITTLE SCARY. YOU MISSED IT JERRY. BUT JUST BECAUSE I KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE THERE INSTEAD OF TEXAS HERE'S A COUPLE PICS OF THE FUN.
