Leak - Rear Cabin
 

Here's a new one for me: Taking out my loose stuff from the baggage compartment (1967 Turbo model), noticed that small strip of upholstery along the bottom of the back wall panel was all wet. Couldn't detect much of the floor carpet being wet or even damp by comparison, but that strip of stuff was reasonably soaked.

Anyone have any experience with something like this and have suggestions as to where to look for the leak?

Given that people have been reading this one but haven't replied, I'm guessing this probably isn't a very common problem. Hope the shop finds where the water's coming in (they have it in for the annual now, so I'll know soon).

Rear Fire Wall Leak
 

I had a simmular problem & it turned out to be. Water came in through air scoop on rear engine & down the fire wall to inspection covers that had poor seals than down inside fire wall to carpet. You need to pull back interrior on fire wall & use water hose around scoop area, to see where it is getting in. Have fun some times leaks are hard to find. Dale Campbell

Well it turned out that the leak was caused by a crack in the seal of the baggage door.

So mine should be relatively easy to fix - just some weather-stripping material to be applied.

The shop looked at the seal on the back firewall, but couldn't find any problems there. When they talked about the bad seal around the baggage door I got in and checked it out - sure enough there was a gap in the lower rear corner. I can see why flying around in rain could cause the back wall's lower upholstery to get wet.

Anyway, I've sealed the thing up so hope that will do it now.

You install bilge pump only if your name is Bob Cook & you fly to low over Carrabean waters on way to Treasure Cay. We all should be as luck as Bob. Iam stuck in Penna., because of work.
Today the first of April, snowed last night with temp. still 25 degrees. This North-east sucks this year.
