Rear Engine Hot Cilinder.
 

Ever since acquiring our current 1968 T337C the rear engine #1 cilinder runs maybe 20 - 40 degrees hotter than the others in the rear engine. Anybody else having this problem, and suggestions to cure?

Check your engine baffling for proper fit and clearances. Too much clearance means less air to be forced thru the cooling fins on the cylinder. Also, check your fuel nozzle on that cylinder for any obstruction to either the air bleed screen or the oriface in the bore.

Usually the #1 cyl on the rear engine has the factory CHT probe. If you have a JPI or GEM they will use a gasket probe or an adapter probe on that cyl. Our planes the # 2 on the front and the #1 on the rear will run @20-30 degrees hotter. But do check your baffling.

We have the '68 T337C as well and have the same problem. We tried a larger nozzle (12B as opposed to 12A on the rest) and it helped a little. We are in the middle of ordering GAMI jectors because the front temps are all over the place and hope this also alleviated this problem as well.

Thanks for the thoughts, all. Maybe its bad baffling - the baffling is probably 1,500 hour old.
