Rear Cowl Flap motor - Wanted + Advice please

Dear All

I hope you are all well.

History : - P337 '73 Model rear cowl flap motor keeps burning out.
AME - is not doing a good job.

I believe the problem may lie in
1) not being the right motor (front not same)
2) Some mechanical strain , restrictions
3) Adjustment not correct
4) Windings are not correct.

Combination of all above.

Please can you advise me on how to go about ensuring these risk are mitigated before installing a new or remaned part.

Sources please:
1) Remaned my current part
2) Trading in part core for another
3) Obtaining a new one.

Many thanks any help of leads are much appreciated
Best Regards

Bruce,
I had similar problems with my 77 337 until I stopped trusting that the panel switch would turn off the cowl flap motor at full open or closed. There is a metal cam attached to the mechanism that has two microswitches attached to it that are supposed to cancel power to the cowl flap motor when it hits full open or full closed. If these are misaligned at all the motor can continue to be energized in a stalled condition. This burns out the motor pretty quickly. Now I just look at the light on the panel, and when it indicated open or closed I return the switch to the center position, which is off.

It has worked wonders.
