Insurance Renewal: What is the right hull value ?

Gents,

My insurance renewal coming up and I'm trying to figure out the value to insure.
Vref puts it at $150k, but prices are all over the place.

I have seen and heard that aircraft in top condition go for top prices.
No middle market anymore. They have all been scooped out of the market.
Even bargains that were at the bottom before are getting scooped and updated.

At Potomac Airfield, I have recently seen aircraft
Some I thought would get parted out, have been overhauled, sold, and fly again
One just bought an everything overhauled 1966 C182 for ...$120+k
Others go at AMAZING prices

As we have seen in real-estate, lower priced options have mostly 'cleared the market'
Leaving fewer, generally higher priced inventory to choose from.

SO, IF my 337 got smooshed,

What is the right insured
Cost ...to replace?
Or, how much invested?
Or, some other market value?

Listings in Controller, Trade A Plane, ASO, other online sources

Really clean: good component times, loaded, asking $150k-300k+
Below 100k: runout engine(s), ancient avionics,
out of annual for years (or decades),
canada registered, overseas, salvage/parts, etc

Skymaster center seems to have lower end, many w 'issues'
Maybe those have more motivated sellers and are easier to sell?

To buy a replacement looks like it would cost around $150-200k, IF I could find one.

.....So what do you think?

Is hull insurance at $150k about right?

$180K all day long, and that still may be under insured.

It's very simple.

If the hangar collapses on your Skymaster and you need to go shopping to replace it with a Skymaster that's as close as you can get to your plane...How much money do you want to have in your pocket while you shop?

That's your answer.

That is the simple answer, love it. To support that thought, understand that if anything happens, something that you might say, "that's nothing," the underwriter will probably total it.
