Riley Has been Sold

I read on Monday that Super Skyrocket, of Carlsbad, CA, has been acquired by another company.

Does anyone have further information.

Where did you read about that Larry?

it was an ad, and I think it was bizflash, or ann, but I can't find it. Wonder if anyone else had seen it.

I talked to a friend, who has talked to Riley. To quote his email:

"Apparently there was someone that has put something in the Trade a plane that is claiming to be the original riley guys. Apparently there is legal action in the situation etc etc etc....Additionally their phone systems are screwed up and their 800 number doesn't work, but they are still Super Skyrocket and in business."

I am not sure what the truth of all this is, but that is the latest I have heard.

Must have been TAP where I saw it.

More News

From ANN, aero-news.net
It appears that Carlsbad, home of Rocket, is undergoing some renovation, AND, lot of folks are getting their hangars demolished, as is the local restaurant.
This time I have the link.

Ok, and refer all questions to either the DPW(that's who runs airports in SD) or my lawyer, Kevin.:D

Ah, I don't get what that item has to do with Riley. Riley has moved to Ontario, CA...

I am so confused.

And I hope you mean your lawyer, Keven, not Kevin. If you are using me as your lawyer, prepare to do hard time...

Kevin

I think the source of the confusion was this ad in Trade-A-Plane (under 337's for sale):

ANNOUNCING: EXPRESS AIR Aviation Inc., Skymaster Maintenance & Sales has bought out Rocket Aircraft Conversion Center at the Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA. Over 12-years servicing the Skymaster market. (760) 931-1106

That is not the Riley SuperSkyrocket folks. If memory serves, after Jack Riley passed, two companies resulted. There were the new investors (Riley SuperSkyrocket) who got the STCs, and the old Riley employees (whom I presume went my the name Rocket Aircraft Conversion Center).

See, now that explains a lot. On airnav, it says Rocket is still at Carlsbad. Obviously that's not the superskyrocket folks.
Thanks, Kevin

This is ALMOST as confusing as trying to figure out which Kevi(e)n is posting on this site. Must be the most popular name for Skymaster owners.

Jim (Changing my middle name to Kevein(using i and e)) Stack

kevin 08-21-04 03:52 PM

Maybe I should change my name to Jim... ;-)

K

Keven 08-21-04 04:00 PM

Kevin, go ahead and change your name to Jim and I'll change mine to Jem.

Loved, respected, admired, and most of all . . . feared.
