Counter drum altimeter

Thank you for your answer.
The reason I ask is that counter drum altimeters are required for commercial operation in Europe.

Troels,
the altimeter is an ARC EA-401A, it was a factory option on Skymasters. The full part number is 42540-3128. It is a servoed electric altimeter/encoder. The altimeter part works just fine, the encoder part can be troublesome, and expensive to fix. They are pretty common encoding altimeters and it shouldn't be too hard to find one and no problem to install since it could be ordered that way from the factory. If you use one of these altimeters, you have to have a non-electric altimeter as a backup in case of an electrical failure, probably just keeping the altimeter you already have as the #2. I have a repairable core if you are desperate, but it will be expensive to fix I would guess.

That makes sense, as we had a non-electric altimeter also in the airplane.

You should look at Paul and Mary's airplane. It is nicely equipped.

I have an electric Altimeter in the TwinCo. It was in it when we bought it and seems very accurate. Not sure if it has the encoder or the static unit next to it. The static unit has to be there for legality reasons as Jeff indicated. Seems like I have seen these in Trade a Planes from like Airwich in Kansas. Might be a good place to look.

The cool thing about them, as opposed to the ones you more typically see, is that you can dial in 29.97, as opposed to saying, 'should be about there'
