IO-360-C vs IO-360-D

Does anybody know what the difference between these two engines is? Are they interchangeable?

Jim

I would talk to Continental. When I replaced my front a couple years ago I went to the newer approved model that has 1700 TBO. It has some different bearings and journals to allow the extended TBO. They will know what you need

What's the newer model that you have installed now?

IO-360-C vs IO-360-D

Hey Jim.
The only difference I know is that the IO-360-C has a modified starter adapter to allow the mounting of a hydraulic pump. According to the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) the "C" can be mounted on the rear BUT the "D" cannot be mounted on the front. Hope this helps.
BILLS

I think it is the IO-360 CBC 1700 TBO There are some changes that Continental did to the main journals or something that gives the extra 200 hours TBO

IO-360-CB, perhaps? There is no -CBC. The -CB has a modified crankshaft from the -C.

Jim

It is actually a IO360CB6B.

FWIW, the CB6B has the 200 additional hours so TBO is 1700 and the real difference is the Main and Rod journals are larger than the previous C only model with out the B. 6B designates the accessories as a 24V 38 amp Alt and the Tach p/u on the mag
