Armrest

There was a question a while ago about where to get armrests like this. I didn't see a reply and now I can't find the post via a search.

So...anyone have info about this?

That was me asking about them, I never really found what I was looking for. I did find a few for other aircraft that may be cut to fit. That recessed armrest you show is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. The existing arm rest sticks into your side and does absolutely no good. Not sure why the "interior designer" would place it there.

Here is the thread "ELBOW ROOM": http://www.337skymaster.com/messages...ead.php?t=5035

This would be a great mod, and the pic shows it in a P-model like mine, which is encouraging!

Thanks, and you're right, the regular armrest is just an annoyance.

I contacted Air Mod and was told that yes, they have them, but no, you can only have them if you get the rest of the interior.

There is a young man in Europe who is making plastics for our airplanes. If we could get the dimensions of this Elbow Room panel I'm sure he would be happy to produce some for us especially if we had a group order to give him. Who's interested?

Multimotor 08-01-22 02:13 PM

The one in Ukraine? Or someone else?

There are lots of people with 3D printers in the U.S., but I don't know if those plastics meet flammability requirements.

Yes, I'm interested.

I’m thinking if you can make a form you could use Kydex and a heat gun to make them.
Kydex meets all the FAA requirements

I like the Kydex idea if someone can produce a form.

I sent a message to the guy in Europe with a pic to see if he has interest.

EDIT: He replied that he DOES have interest. Now how to figure out the form sizing???

The man's name is Максим Кальницкий, and he's willing to produce a small run of 10 pieces. He's working on pricing.

Since he doesn't have a 337 there to use as a model, can anyone suggest how we could move forward on this little project???

Jhogan0101 08-05-22 02:59 PM

Im in the middle of upgrading my interior. I could try to copy whats in the first photo of this thread and send to Maxim to refine/duplicate. Ill try to find some time this upcoming week.

Thanks Philly, that could really help out a bunch of us! Let me know if there's any way I can help.

I have a P-Model like the one in the photo with the recessed arm rest. I think I could extrapolate most of the measurements using known data such as the window width.

Looking at the parts catalog, if we could get the trim to Maxim im sure he could reproduce. This would be much better than reinventing the wheel.
Its part 1515037-1
Its number 24 in the attached figure
Does anyone have one we could send him on loan?

Great find! So these recessed panels were factory Cessna? My '78 doesn't have them, but they could have been removed in an earlier interior refit.

Multimotor 08-10-22 01:23 PM

The link to the gross weight increase vendor goes to Skymaster Mods and Parts (Owen Bell). I noticed some of the pics on the site included the recessed armrests, so I asked about availability.

Their reply:

We have an as removed 1515075-1 arm rest for $995

We have an as removed 1515075-5 arm rest trim for $395, or a new one for $495

Jhogan0101 08-10-22 01:53 PM

Im not sure how much Maxim would charge us for a new one but im sure would be no where near $500 for the 1oz piece of formed magic plastic.

mshac 08-10-22 02:59 PM

Those prices are highway robbery. If we had a batch of 10 made I bet they would be less than $150 each!
