Very unpleasant experience !

Hi,
During one of the hottest days in august, just after shut down, I got stuck for almost 2h in my pressurized FT337G (build in France by Reims Aviation in 1974), because the upper clam shell door's front security lock cable broke when I pulled it !
To who it could happen, I recommend having a cruciform screw-driver (with T shape hand grip if possible) to remove the leather trim and a flat plier to unscrew the bottom part of the sleeve in which the cable slides, and finally to pull the cable (some nice people passed me those tools through the window !).

Isn't there a way to unlock the upper clam shell door from outside the aircraft ?

That's a scary story for a P-model owner in Texas!

It would be great if you could add some pictures to explain exactly what you had to do!

Yeah, your the 2nd story I heard this happening to. Pictures would be great on what happened and how you managed to get out....since I own a Pressurized G model aswell.

I’m an E model and there is an emergency pop out window on pilot side. I know hull design changes with G model and shared with pressurized models. So there’s no emergency pop out for those models?

OK !
I'll send a procedure with pictures as soon as possible !

Yes : no emergency door on the pressurized Skymasters.
If I'm right, I think Cessna just didn't want to certify a second door and that's why FAA required the POB reduction from 6 to 5.

THANK YOU SIR! Vive la France! :)

Out of curiosity, how many hours are on the airframe?

I think this highlights the need for an onboard crash-ax.
