New to the forum ....advises needed

Good evening,

I am new to this forum, I fly between Switzerland and Sardinia in Italy. I currently own and fly a Cessna U206G. Great plane, a real jeep of the air.

I am a fan of the 337. In December I had almost finalized the purchase of a P337 N119XU, but the pre-buy showed many problems and I gave up.

I want to take my time and find the perfect aircraft for my mission.

I am counting on your experience and advice to help me make the right choice and answer my questions.

First of all, here is my main use:

I live between SWITZERLAND (LSGS) and Sardinia Italy (OG01) I make frequent round trips. The flight lasts about 3h.30, 450 NM passing over the Alps at 13.500 feet.

In Sardinia the runway is grass and 650 m long at 1'850 feet altitude.

Given my missions my idea was to find a 337 with :

- turbo
- D-ice
- Stole kite + VG s
- Few engine and propeller hours
- Moderne avionic and AP

my budget would be USD 150K / 190 K depending on the avionic

But here in Europe I need an MTOW of 4'400 lbs because above that we have to pay a tax on each flight.

My questions :

- Is it possible to find a 337 Dice turbo not presu ?
- What is the speed on short final with a Stole Kite + VG s
- Distance of take off and landing with a Stole Kite + VG s
- Is the turbo complicated to manage?

I need to pass my Multiengine licence. I plan to comemto the US in October - November ...can you recommand me a noce and friendly school ?

I am looking forward to reading your feedback

Sincerely

Alain

Alain,
I can recommend Chickasha Wings for your Multi-Engine training. Chickasha, Oklahoma (KCHK). If necessary, we can work on your 337 transition here as well.

Yes, there are Turbo 337s without pressurization, but good ones can be hard to find.

Here are some STOL speeds and landing distances from Robinson. I have only flown a skymaster with STOL and you can definitely get much slower that without on approaches.

Stole Kit installation

Hello

Thanks for your answer.

I will definitively try to find one with a stole kit. But if I need to install one :

- which is the best stole kit on the 337
- what is the cost
- on my 206 I have Vortex generator , does it efficient also on the 337

Welcome to the forum!

Is the 4400 lb tax limit based on Certified GTOW? If so, that limits you to '67 models or earlier, which have a 4300 lb GTOW. There was a T337B that was turbocharged but not pressurized with the 4300 lb limit.

All the pressurized airplanes '73 through '80 have a 4700 lb GTOW.

Hello
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry I do not know what is a GTOW and if the MTOW is based on it.
But the 337 P N119XU for exemple which is a 1975 P model had a MTOW of 4'400 lbs.
I would like to find a 1975 /1979 Turbo charged model but I do not need presu.
Thanks
Alain

GTOW = Gross Take Off Weight, should have used MTOW

The year models you are looking at have a Max TOW of 4700 lbs. Is the tax determined on Max Certified TOW or the actual TOW?

This plane is now sold... it was just to tell you that this model receive a modification and on the document it was a 4'400 lbs
That s why I am looking for a TURBO non presu and then try to add this modification.

By the way... if you know a nice school I plan to come in the US to pass my multi engine Licence and if I have time the IR qualification ..

Thanks

Alain
