Insight Data Analysis
 
Couple of things. First I have a complete working system for the GEM-1200. I secured an HPLX PalmTop computer, a working Compact Flash Card that I can write on the PalmTop and Read using the same card reader that I use to load nav data into GNS-480. I also found a working copy of the GEMCOM software, which I am happy to post to anyone.

The beauty of all of this is that you can unload the data from your Insight 1200 to see how the engine is performing and do some analysis, that is how I get to the second part of my issue.

So part two is that the rear engine EGT's are all ok, as is the TIT, and most of the cylinder temps, but it is clear the the odd number cylinders are rung much hotter that the even, so I am looking for suggestions in the area of baffles in the rear engine. My guess is I either have a leak on the right side, letting too much air pass through of I need to divert more airflow to the left side to help cool those cylinder heads.

Has anyone here done similar analysis? Have suggestions?

I took a flashlight, went into the hanger at night, lights off, and aimed it from the top of the baffling. Then I looked from below and could clearly see where the gaps were. I sealed them with RTV and in some cases baffle material.

I do similar analysis.

I'm not seeing the all the rear odd CHTs being hot (300-350F). I see rear CHT1 is consistently 50F less than all the other rear CHTs. Are all the rear CHT probes the same? If the rear CHT1 probe is connected to both the engine monitor and the CHT gauge on the panel, that's why it reads low.

You're right, it could be as simple as a baffle positioned to the wrong (low pressure) side of the plenum. We've found this frequently following maintenance.

The panel mount CHT lead is in fact connected to the same probe as the one for the GEM-1200. I was not aware that this would cause a lower readout.

I guess it changes the resistance. Interesting to know. I am going to contact Insight to see if there is a way to address.
