I saw a thread here from long long ago, that briefly delved into the topic of the apparent pardon that the FAA seems to give to NA models after 33701852. I could find no more on that. What little was said, suggested it might have been a mistake on the part of the feds, given that 1853 was built--they argued--the very same way.

Can anyone illuminate me (us)?

Cesssna made some changes after 33701548 so you didn’t have to do the lower spar cap inspection (eddy current) but you still had the spar web inspection, changes were made in that area after 33701852 so the AD doesn’t apply You can go to FAA.gov and look up the AD

Thanks Kim.

Yes, in fact my comment about the "pardon" was based on my review of that AD. And for posterity, it can be found at http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Gu...F?OpenDocument .

I think it might have been you that made mention of it back in O2 (pun intended). In any case, I was wondering what the specific change might have been to those later models, in case anyone might know.
