First time on this site for us. we operate a 337a and recently had an aft cowl flap Control Cable break. it created a 90deg bend in the control cable about 8" from the aft end. obviously it needs replacing. not entirely sure what caused the runaway of the motor, if it was cable or not. we ordered a new part and when compared to the old the 'travel' or 'throw' is about half of the old one. overall length is just a bit short but doesn't seem to match up well at all. this part is a Cessna #s1244-17 which i believe can only be for a 337a
this is a bit of long shot on whether anyone has dealt with this issue before.

Where did you source your part? That part is used on serial #0001 though #0978. Are you sure the part that went south on you was the right one?

Yes, source was Air Power but box says it came direct from Textron. I've talked with Textron direct and it does appear to be manufactured incorrectly. See attached engineering info on what the cable should be. the new one isn't the same and overall shorter by 1/2" and throw is about an 1 1/2" short too!

Also, what is SK337-8 modification in regards to the Aft Cowl Flap?

Hello ALL. I have an older C337 (1965). Do the newer C337, that have ONLY electric switches, have the follow up cable? If not why not change the to the all electric type PER Cessna wiring diagram/ or do the STC'd electric type per Enterprise Avn. out of Nashville Tennessee. http://www.cessnaskymaster.com?
